Why av_find_encoder(AV_CODEC_ID_H264) has no profiles

Postby SabinManiac » Tue Jun 16, 2015 7:27 pm

I have this code:

Code: Select all
int32_t codecs[ ] = { AV_CODEC_ID_H264, AV_CODEC_ID_VP8,   AV_CODEC_ID_VP9 };
AVCodec* codec;
const AVProfile* profile=nullptr;
for ( int32_t i=0;i<sizeof(codecs)/sizeof(codecs[0]);++i) {
codec = avcodec_find_encoder(static_cast<AVCodecID>(codecs[i]));
if (codec) {
  profile = codec->profiles;
      printf("\t NO PROFILE\n");
  while (profile &&
} else {
  printf("No codec.\n");
return true;

Why doesn't libx264 report any profile?
Code: Select all
    No profile.
    No profile.
No codec.

Try the libav-user mailing list.
Get an answer more quickly by providing your actual ffmpeg command and the complete console output. Use the code button to format your command and output or your question will be ignored.
