Output to server's speakers starting ffplay from ssh-session

Postby alexrz » Tue Jun 07, 2016 10:13 pm

I wonder if it is possible to have the output of an audio on the server's speakers, which I am connected to via ssh and run the command from that session.

My architecture:

I have a server with CentOS 6.7 and ffmpeg Version 1.1.5
It has alsa, pulseaudio, jack installed.
It has a soundcard. The microphone of that soundcard can be accessed via alsa and grabbed as an input. This works fine. No questions there.
I have some speakers attached to that server.
I want to use this server headless, this means no x11, no display, only the shell environment.

I want to start a playback of a sound from the shell and have it's output on the speakers of the server. But I want to start that command from a remote session.

How do I do that? Thank you for your kind help pushing me to the right direction. Thanks.
