Poor mjpeg and jpeg quality

Postby matejuh » Wed Apr 05, 2017 7:03 pm

Hi, I have a RTSP feed from Hikvision camera, which I need to place to the website. From the feed I want to create two streams- mjpeg stream for "realtime" watching and jpeg stream for camera preview.

My config works fine, but the quality of resulting JPEG is really poor.

The mjpeg stream is blury at the bottom. I tried to reconfigure camera and ffserver bit rates etc. but without success. Camera upload connectivity should be sufficient. Jpeg stream picture quality is really poor.

How to set up ffserver to provide whole mjpeg stream and better jpeg quality?

The camera provides also jpg resource so it would be enough for me to proxy jpg to jpg. But I am not sure if it's possible with ffserver.

My config:
Code: Select all
<Feed cam1.ffm>
        File /tmp/cam1.ffm
        FileMaxSize 20M
        Launch ffmpeg -i "rtsp://user:pass@hostname:554/Streaming/channels/1" -c copy

<Stream cam/cam1.mjpeg>
        Feed cam1.ffm
        Format mpjpeg
        VideoBitRate 10000
        VideoFrameRate 0.2
        VideoSize hd720
        Strict -1
        Preroll 0
        ACL allow localhost

<Stream cam/cam1.jpg>
        Feed cam1.ffm
        Format jpeg
        VideoFrameRate 1
        VideoSize 1280x720
        Strict -1
